Whether you need to convert HEIC to JPG, change a HEIC file to JPG, or get a HEIC to PNG, this page covers the converter we are building to do it.

— the short answer

The HEIC to JPG converter will turn the HEIC photos an iPhone saves into ordinary JPG files that any app, site, or device can open. It is not live yet but is launching soon. In the meantime you can turn any image into a free shareable link here, with no signup.

Try it now
— how it works
  1. 01

Upload your HEIC file when it launches

Once the converter goes live, you will drag in or pick the HEIC photo your iPhone or iPad saved. You will not need to change any phone settings first.

  2. 02

    Pick JPG as the output

You will choose JPG, with PNG planned as an option too, so you can match whatever the site or app you are using will accept.

  3. 03

    Download the converted image

The tool will rewrite the HEIC into a standard JPG and hand it straight back to you, ready to open or upload anywhere.

  4. 04

Get a shareable link right now instead

While the converter is still being built, you can already drop a supported image onto imagepaste.org and get a free short link to share in chat, a doc, or a ticket.

Why HEIC to JPG conversion is worth it

HEIC is the format an iPhone uses by default because it saves space, but it is the reason a photo will not open on an older laptop, will not upload to some forms, and looks broken when you send it to someone on a different device. Converting HEIC to JPG fixes that in one step: JPG is the format almost every app, website, and device understands, so the photo starts behaving like a normal picture. The honest reason this converter is not live yet is that decoding HEIC reliably across all the variations iPhones produce needs proper decoding support behind an API, rather than the simple canvas work most browsers can do today. We are building it so the conversion is dependable. It is launching soon.

What you can do here today

While the HEIC to JPG converter is still being built, the core tool on imagepaste.org already turns supported images into a shareable link. Drop, paste, or pick a JPG, PNG, GIF, or WebP file and you get a short URL for a chat, a ticket, a forum post, or a listing, free, with no signup and no watermark. If your photo is already a JPG, you can share it as a link right now. And the moment the converter lands, you will be able to turn a HEIC into a JPG and then, if you want, share that JPG as a link from the same place, in two quick steps.

— features

HEIC decoded reliably

When it launches, the converter will handle the HEIC variations iPhones produce and rewrite them into a standard JPG that opens anywhere.

JPG and PNG output

You will be able to choose JPG, with PNG planned too, so the result matches what the site or app you are using will accept.

Free and no signup

The converter will be free with no account, matching the core image-to-link tool you can already use today.

No phone settings to change

You will not have to switch your iPhone camera format first. Drop the HEIC you already have and convert it as is.

Shareable link in one step

The converted JPG will plug into the same link feature, so it can become a short URL to paste anywhere.

— when to use it

Open an iPhone photo on an older PC

Turn a HEIC that will not open on an older Windows laptop into a JPG that any viewer can show. This is a core job the converter is being built for.

Upload a photo a form rejects

Many forms and sites refuse HEIC. Convert it to JPG so the upload goes through instead of being bounced for an unsupported format.

Send a photo someone else can see

A HEIC sent to a friend on a different device can show up broken. A JPG arrives as a normal picture they can open right away.

Share the JPG as a link

Once converted, you will be able to turn the JPG into a free shareable URL here, and JPG photos can already be shared that way today.

— frequently asked
Is the HEIC to JPG converter available yet? +

Not yet. It is launching soon. Decoding HEIC reliably across the variations iPhones produce needs proper decoding support behind an external API, which we are still building, so this page describes what the tool will do rather than claiming it works today. The core image-to-link tool on imagepaste.org works right now and is free.

What will the converter cost? +

It will be free with no account, the same as every other tool here. There is no plan to put HEIC conversion behind a paywall or a signup wall.

What can I use right now instead? +

You can turn supported images into a shareable link today. If your photo is already a JPG, PNG, GIF, or WebP, drop it here and get a free short URL with no signup. For HEIC itself, you can convert it on your device for now, or wait for the converter, which is launching soon.

What is HEIC? +

HEIC is the high-efficiency image format an iPhone and iPad save photos in by default. It keeps quality at a smaller file size, but it does not open everywhere, which is why converting it to JPG is often useful.

Why will not my HEIC open on some apps now? +

Many older programs, some websites, and devices from other makers do not support HEIC. Converting to JPG, which nearly everything understands, is the simplest fix, and that is what this tool will do.

Will the converter support HEIC to PNG too? +

Yes, PNG is planned alongside JPG, so you will be able to pick whichever the site or app you are using will accept.

Will converting lose quality? +

JPG is a lossy format, so a conversion re-encodes the photo, but at a good quality setting the difference is hard to see and the file becomes far more compatible. The aim is to keep the picture looking close to the original.

Will I need to sign up or install anything? +

No. It will run in the browser with no account and no extension, just like the image-to-link tool you can already use on this site.

When will it launch? +

Soon. We would rather ship a converter that handles real iPhone HEIC files dependably than a rushed one that fails on some of them, so there is no hard date yet. Use the working image-to-link tool here in the meantime.
