Blur Image in Your Browser — Soften Detail and Download
Drop, paste, or pick an image and soften it with a slider. Drag for more or less blur, watch the preview update, then download. It all runs in your browser, so the picture never leaves your device unless you ask for a link. Free, with no account or watermark.
Whether you want to blur an image online, add blur to a photo, or use it as a quick image blur tool, it is the same slider-and-download here.
To blur an image, drop or paste it onto imagepaste.org, drag the blur slider until the detail is soft enough, then click Download. The blur is applied on your device in the browser canvas, so the photo never leaves your device unless you choose to make a shareable link.
Blur an image now
Drop, paste, or pick a file. It blurs in your browser and nothing uploads unless you ask for a link.
Try it now ↑- 01
Add your image
Drag a file onto the page, press Ctrl+V to paste from your clipboard, or click the drop zone to pick one. JPEG, PNG, GIF, and WebP all work, up to 15 MB.
- 02
The blur tool opens with your image
The picture loads into the editor at full resolution. Nothing has been sent anywhere — the image is sitting in your browser, on your device, ready to soften.
- 03
Drag the blur slider
Slide right for a stronger blur and left for a lighter one. The preview updates live, so you can stop exactly where the detail is soft enough for what you need.
- 04
Click Download to save the result
The blurred image renders on the canvas and downloads straight to your device in the same format you started with. No upload sits between you and the file.
- 05
Optional: get a shareable link
Want a URL instead of a file? Click Get shareable link. Only then is the blurred image uploaded, and a short link is copied for you to paste anywhere.
Why blur image content in your browser?
Blurring in the browser matters most when the thing you are hiding is private. The image loads straight onto the canvas on your own device, so the original never gets uploaded to a server while you work. That is exactly what you want when you are softening a face, an address, a card number, or a name in a screenshot. The sensitive version stays on your machine and nothing leaves your device unless you click Get shareable link. It is also fast: because the blur is just a canvas filter running locally, the preview updates live as you drag the slider, with no upload wait. And it keeps working offline once the page is loaded, so you are not trusting a private picture to a third-party round trip.
How the client-side blur works
When you add an image, the browser decodes it onto a canvas in memory. The slider sets the radius of a blur filter that the canvas applies to the pixels in real time, which is why the preview reacts the instant you drag. Clicking Download re-renders the blurred canvas and exports it as a file in the same format you started with, so a PNG stays a PNG and a JPEG stays a JPEG. None of this reaches a server. The optional shareable link is the only step that uploads anything, and only when you click it. One thing worth knowing: a blur applied this way is baked into the pixels, so once you download, the hidden detail cannot be recovered by un-blurring. The 15 MB cap keeps big files smooth.
Runs fully in your browser
The blur is applied on the canvas on your device. The original is never uploaded while you edit, so private detail stays on your machine.
Adjustable slider
Drag for a light haze or a heavy blur, with a live preview so you can stop exactly where the detail is hidden enough.
Permanently baked in
The blur is rendered into the pixels on download, so hidden detail cannot be reversed once the file is saved.
Keeps your original format
Blur a PNG and download a PNG, blur a JPEG and download a JPEG, with no surprise conversion.
Optional shareable link
Need a URL instead of a file? One click uploads the blurred result and copies a short link. Skip it and nothing leaves your device.
Hide a face before sharing
Soften a face in a photo or screenshot so you can post or send it without showing who is in the frame. The unblurred original never leaves your device.
Cover personal data in a screenshot
Blur an email address, account number, or home address out of a screen capture before it goes into a bug report or a chat, keeping the sensitive copy on your machine.
Soften a busy background
Add a gentle blur to play down a cluttered background behind the subject of a photo for a cleaner look.
Tease content without revealing it
Blur a spoiler, an answer key, or a work in progress so you can show that something exists without giving it away.
Is the blur image tool free? +
Yes, it is completely free with no account, no sign-in, and no watermark. You can blur and download as many images as you want.
Does it upload my image? +
No. The blur is applied in your browser, on your device, using the canvas. The original is never uploaded while you edit or when you download. The only time anything leaves your device is if you click Get shareable link to make a URL from the blurred result.
Is the blur permanent and safe for hiding private detail? +
Yes. The blur is rendered into the pixels when you download, so the hidden detail cannot be recovered by un-blurring the saved file. Because the work happens on your device, the clear original never reaches a server either.
What image formats can I blur? +
JPEG, PNG, GIF, and WebP all work. The download keeps the same format you started with, so a blurred PNG comes back as a PNG and a blurred JPEG comes back as a JPEG.
Is there a file size limit? +
Yes, 15 MB per image, which covers screenshots, phone photos, and most web images. If a file is larger, shrink it first and then blur it.
Can I blur just part of the image? +
The slider applies the blur across the whole image. To soften only one area, crop that region out first, blur it, and place it back, or frame the shot so the part you want clear is separate. A targeted region blur is not part of this tool.
How strong can the blur be? +
The slider ranges from a barely-there haze up to a heavy blur that hides fine detail completely. Drag until the preview shows the level you want, then download.
Can I blur images on my phone? +
Yes. The tool works in mobile browsers on iOS and Android. Pick an image from your photos, drag the slider with your finger, and download the blurred version to your device.
Does blurring change the image dimensions? +
No. The blur softens the pixels but keeps the same width and height as the original, so the downloaded image is the same size, just less sharp where the blur is applied.
How do I get a link to the blurred image? +
After blurring, click Get shareable link. That uploads the blurred result and copies a short URL to your clipboard for pasting into chat, a doc, or a ticket. If you never click it, nothing is uploaded.
